This one the club rate 4.5 out of a possible 5. It lost a few points for some of us because of the format in which it was written. On a scale of 1- 10 they rated it at an 8. For the most part they seemed to really enjoy the story line but found the format difficult to follow at times. I don’t know if you are a Cussler fan or not but if you haven’t read any of his books this is a must read. Clive is pure entertainment from start to finish. The book opens in the year 1950 with the raising of a locomotive up out of the depths of the Montana Lake. Inside are the remains of 3 people who died 44 years before. First let me say I just had a very good time at the ILA conference which was in Springfield, IL. I gained a lot of useful information that I plan on implementing at our library. One of the things I learned is that it is more important to get the latest library news and happenings out rather than wait around to Robin Krone, Library Administratornoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24141369.post-4789204231295178342007-06-21T15:21:00.000-05:002007-07-26T18:23:33.119-05:00Harry Potter PredictionsOur Harry Potter book club’s predictions for the book seven, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows” is as follows. Our book club met on June 19th and after much debate came up with the following possible scenarios. These of course are all just our guesses and are in no way factual in any sense as everything is such a highly guarded secret. Dumbledore is going to come back in some form. Our summer reading programs have been very successful. We have been averaging between 89 and 101 at the Ashland location and between 62 and 69 at the Plains location. (This number doesn’t include the adults who also came.) Have you been missing out? Don’t fret there are 3 more left. There is still time to get those book logs Robin Krone, Library Administratornoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24141369.post-65788315397271031302007-05-16T10:33:00.000-05:002007-05-16T10:40:01.332-05:00No for HB1727HB1727 INTERNET SCREENING IN PUBLIC LIBRARIES ACT This is a very controversial issue. Upon first glance it seems like a great idea. “We are out to stop the pedophiles.” I am sad to report it will not do what it is intended to do. Why because proper filters have not been invented yet to do the job we want them to. What will happen? First lets address the over 21 rule. Several Hundred Library Professionals descended upon the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, Ill. On this day, my self included. My day started at 7:30 am in the morning for “breakfast with your legislator”. Sad to say none of the legislatures that represent our library attended. Our district is located in Cass, Morgan, Menard and Sangamon County.
