Bookies Book for January!
The book the Bookies read for January Book club was “Them Bones” by Carolyn Haines. ISBN 0553581716 c1999.

This is the first book in the series with Sarah Booth Delaney. Currently there are seven books in this series with the eight one due out soon. (We rate our books on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest rating. There is no logic to our rating system. We vote on what we would give it and then take the average and that is what is given.)The Club gave this one a rating of 4. They felt it was a nice light hearted and fun mystery read. Of this I agree. However I would give it a 3. I like books that grab me right off the bat and have some more adventure to them. The group didn’t see the ending coming. I think I have read one to many books because I was disappointed to find out I did have an excellent idea on this one. To be fair I will probably read more of them. After having read some of the books I read I need a nice light mystery now and then. It reminds me a little bit of my G.A. McKevitt books but I give them a higher rating. My problem is it comes closer to a romance than a mystery. The female characters weren’t strong enough for me, but those who have read more of her books tell me the characters develop more as the books go along.

Those of you who enjoy reading Carol Higgins Clark would like this series. I consider them to fit in the category of an adult Nancy Drew books with a twist.
